Caravan from the Future
It might not be a Delorean but this caravan is a truly immersive live research project that showcases the unlimited potential that future broadcasting technology could have on our everyday lives.
Mundane Futures’ Caravan from the Future will be situated at our MediaCity Campus from Wednesday 10 May.
Designed by researchers from Lancaster University and the University of Nottingham in collaboration with BBC R&D, the static live research project aims to provide a thought-provoking experience as the user considers the future of the mundane technology we take for granted.
Visitors will enter ‘a living room of the future’ incorporating both real and fictional products and services. The project seeks to create an experience for the visitor that questions how much choice people will have in the way in which broadcasting progresses in the future. It will be delivered through a variety of internet-of-things (IOT) devices, flexible media and artificial intelligence.
The exhibition will be open in the campus foyer 10am to 4pm from Wednesday 10 May until Saturday 13 May.
